Meet our chickens, eggs for days...
Have any of you guys ever raised chickens? So my husband gets these wild ideas A LOT, and has decided that we are going to be chicken farmers. YEP, chicken farmers. LOL! Now we live in the city, in a neighborhood, so we had to do our homework on laws. In Mobile it says you can have up to 25 hens, but no roosters and you have to have a certain size coop/run per chicken. My husband being the handy guy he is has started building our chicken coop and its going to be awesome. I cannot wait to show it to you guys when it is done.
In the meantime we officially own 12 baby chicks that we are raising inside for the next 4 weeks till they are big enough to go outside. So I wanted to introduce you to a couple of my kids favorites...
This is Willies chicken "Alvin"
His name is Alvin because he/she looks like a chipmunk from the back. Yes it is a hen but Willie doesn't care, her name is Alvin, lol...
And then we also have Theodore, which my daughter calls Theodora, she gets the whole hen/girl thing, lol...
Then we have "Blue Sky", my daughters fave...
This is my oldest son Peytons favorite, "Goldie"...
My favorite is this little baby polish frizzle, we haven't named him yet...
when he gets older he is going to look like this...
HEEHEE! Don't they look awesome?
Anyways stay tuned on all the chicken madness we have going on and all the egg recipes coming soon. Have a great weekend.
Have you ever raised chickens?
Do you eat fresh eggs?

Awesome! I was saying to my husband the other day that I thought we need to raise chickens because we eat so many eggs. Unfortunately we live in a townhome community and it would never fly. Maybe when we move out of the big city!
ReplyDeleteYes this is going to be an experience, lol. Aw i wish you could have them, bummer.
ReplyDeleteThey are SO cute! I have known people who have raised chickens but haven't tried it myself! We belonged to a CSA farm for a while that had chickens and used to buy the fresh eggs.
