Atkins Frozen Meals, Delicious and Balanced...

I finished week 2 of the Atkins 40 Challenge and I am happy to say I am down another 3lbs. That is 7lbs down in the 2 full weeks I have been following the Atkins 40 diet. I have changed a couple of the meals on the diet plan to include my protein shakes but I made sure they still fit into my diet 40 plan using the carb counter. It makes it so easy to plan out the week of meals. Including adding in one of my favorite breakfast meals of nonfat greek yogurt fruit, granola, and almonds.

Another fantastic things about the Atkins programs is that they offer some amazing frozen meals. I am not big on frozen dinners mainly because they usually contain so many calories, are high in sodium, and lets not even talk about the carbs and sugars. however Atkins has found a way to balance all this in their meals and make them balanced for any meal plan.

Atkins Frozen Meals includes delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner options:

High quality proteins without fillers
Premium cuts of vegetables
Gravies and sauces made with real natural creams and butter
No added sugars or preservatives
4-7g Net Carbs per meal
Fits all 4 phases of Atkins

I was sent a couple of frozen meals to test out this past week...

I am very busy between football practice, basketball practice, and swim team, I don't always have time to make a healthy meal for lunch or dinner. So being able to run home and pop something in the microwave that I know is going to taste good and fill me up was super convenient and took the guess work out of what I would eat.

Looks delicious! I teamed it up with a couple carb smart tortillas strips. I also was able to indulge in PIZZA! Yep pizza!

Atkins has just introduced their new frozen pizza line and let me tell you they are DELICIOUS!

This was the cheese pizza, now I know it doesn't look the greatest, but let me tell you it was delicious. The crust stayed soft but crispy on the edges. It was super filling and ready in 3 minutes.

I am starting my 3rd week, so I am excited to let you guys all in on how week 3 goes. The Atkins 40 has been super easy to adjust to. I am not feeling like I am ever hungry or not eating the foods I would normally eat. You guys should def check it out.

Friday Five: 5 Budget Friendly Cold Holiday Fitness Gifts

One of my "blends" Cynthia from You Signed Up For What host a Friday Five Link up every week with Courtney from Eat Pray Run, DC, and Mar from Mar on the Run so I thought I would join in this week with five of my favorite budget friendly fitness gifts for the cold holidays.
And YES, if your wondering that is me and my girls at the Santa Run in Baton Rouge 2 years ago. Couldn't resist not using it. If your ever in Baton Rouge on the weekend of the Santa parade, you should def join in on the pre parade race fun. You head the parade with a 2 mile run down the parade route lined with tons of people. It was so much fun and the best part is the Santa Suit is included AND they have hot chocolate at the finish, SCORE!

Anyways back to my Friday Fives...

1. Swiftwick Socks (www.swiftwick.com) $12.99-$24.99

These are hands down my favorite socks in the world. If there is one thing that every active person needs is a good pair of socks. The wicking and compression of Swiftwick socks is hands down the best on the market. Since starting to wear Swiftwick in 2012,  I have not had a single blister on my feet. The sock we are wearing in the above picture at the Color Run in New Orleans are the white Aspire 12. Full compression from the toe to the knee and super comfortable. You can check out all the different socks Swiftwick offers at www.swiftwick.com.

 2. Koss headphones (www.koss.com) $9.99-$29.99
I have been using the Koss FlexFit Fit Clips for the past year, and they are amazing. I have not had to adjust them on my runs or rides at all. They also have yet to fall off while I attempt to do yoga. I will say they are not as loud as the previous headphones I have used, but are definitely more comfortable and fit better. For safety reasons you don't need them to be very loud anyways, so that part doesn't bother me. Even though they say For Woman, my husband loves them. He has smaller ears and he keeps trying to steal mine.

3. Headsweats visors (www.headsweats.com) $5-$20
Right now at www.Headsweats.com they are offering $5 grab bag visors. These are the best visors for catching sweat and they are not heavy on your head. Here are the details...

"Having a hard time making a decision? Let us at Headsweats make it for you. Roll the dice and get a random visor from our collection. The visor you receive will have a logo on it, either from a racing event, team, or brand.
*If you're looking for a particular color or hat style, you can make a request in the customer notes when checking out and we'll do our best to fulfill it. Grab bag items are not part of our current inventory and does not include any new arrivals. Grab bag pricing can not be combined with discount codes - ALL SALES FINAL!"

This is a great way to check out an amazing visor for running and have a little fun guessing what they might send you all for $5.

4. Powder Kegs (www.powderkegsusa.com) $12.99
I absolutely love this thing. Its a stackable cup system that will hold anything from protein powder to on the go snacks. You can take 1 cup or keep stacking them for the day. I have used this thing all over the country when I have traveled. Its perfect for the gym, work, or travel. It is available in red or pink.

5. Fat to Fit Cookbook by Cindy Lane Ross (www.amazon.com) $31.46
My Fat to Fit radio cohost Cindy Lane Ross wrote this AMAZING cookbook. Its full of healthy, easy to cook recipes that are delicious. What I like most is that there is a picture for every recipe and nutrition facts. Its a must have for all the chefs in your household.

From Cindy herself...
"Nutrition and healthy eating can be intimidating and overwhelming. When writing this book, I wanted to help people make an easy transition for a healthier lifestyle change. Lots of healthy recipes and nutrition tips for the whole family! This book is volume one of the series Fat to Fit. I break it down very simple with easy to follow recipes. This book is about the battle of the bulge, after fighting my own weight issues and dealing with Rheumatoid Arthritis, I feel it's necessary to eat the right foods for a good quality of life!"

You can order it on Amazon HERE!

These are just 5 examples of some of my favorite fitness items that don't break the bank. There are always plenty of things you can buy for all the healthy people in your life. Remember its the thought of the gift not the amount of money you spend. If your an a super tight budget you can always make a healthy treat like my chocodate brownies and wrap them for a sweet treat for coworkers, teachers, and friends.

So I am linking this up on the ladies blogs mentioned above and I hope you will go check them out. One last thing to announce that the DC Trifecta of Mar @ Mar on the Run, Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC and me, You Signed Up for WHAT?! are hosting an Instagram “Gratitude” Challenge. To join them here’s how it works:

  • Beginning this Monday, November 17 through Wednesday, November 26 post a photo daily of what you’re thankful for.

My first week on the Atkins 40 diet! It was a good one...

This post is sponsored by FitFluential on behalf of Atkins. As always all opinions are my own.
I told you a couple weeks ago that I was going to be trying out the new Atkins 40 diet.

What is Atkins 40? The new Atkins diet that allows 40 healthy net carbs per day. Meaning you can have vegetables, some dairy, and even limited amounts of pasta. Yep, PASTA!
I bet that's not what you had in mind when you hear the word Atkins? I know it wasn't for me. I automatically think meat, meat, and more meat, NOPE!
So I have been following the diet for the past week. Let me tell you the best part first... I lost 4.3lbs this past week. YAYYYYYYY! And the best part is that it was so easy and I didn't feel like I was "dieting" so to speak. What I noticed the most is how my stomach wasn't nearly as bloated.

You can see from the 2nd picture that my stomach was significally less bloated than the 1st picture. My body tends to hold on to extra carbs, so keeping the carbs around 40 net healthy carbs really helped my body burn it off.
What is Net Carbs?
When you follow the Atkins Diet, aka the Atkins Nutrition Approach, you actually count grams of Net Carbs, which represent the total carbohydrate content of the food minus the fiber content and sugar alcohols (if in the product). The Net Carbs number reflects the grams of carbohydrate that significantly impact your blood sugar level and therefore are the only carbs you need to count when you do Atkins. Foods that are low in Net Carbs such as nutrient-dense vegetables and fruits don't have a significant impact on blood sugar and therefore are less likely to interfere with weight loss.

You can calculate the approximate number of Net Carb grams of a low-carb product yourself by looking at the information provided on a food label:

Total Carbohydrates
- Dietary Fiber
- Sugar alcohol
= Net carbs

For foods that don't have a label, like fruits and vegetables, you can use the Atkins Carb Counter, and the calculation is:
Total Carbohydrates
- Dietary Fiber
- Sugar alcohol
= Net carbs
We always talk about "good carbs" and Atkins makes it easy to figure out with their Carb Counter. Just download it and it will tell you all of the information you need to figure out your carbs in your daily meals.
I was sent a sample menu plan for the week...
Note: This plan was geared towards me. I followed it for the most part exactly switching up a couple days and meals.

As you can see you can eat so much food on the Atkins 40 plan that you will not feel deprived of anything. Also it included some of their frozen meals, indulgence candies, and delicious bars. However its not full of those so you are not having to break the bank to do the Atkins diet.
I was sent some delicious frozen meals, which were great for when I was in a hurry...

and then you can't go wrong with the delicious Endulge candies and Atkins bars...

YUMMMMM! I was excited about having a couple sweet snacks included.

Overall I found I was never really hungry. The first couple days were an adjustment but overall I felt great at the end of the week. Here are few of my sample meals. Again I did substitute a couple of things using the carb counter on the Atkins page...

I am looking forward to week 2 of the Atkins 40 diet. Stay tuned for the next couple weeks as I tell you all about the frozen dinners, NEW pizzas, and the amazing bars and candies that Atkins has to offer. Also for an update on how I am feeling, weightloss, and overall feelings of the Atkins 40 diet.
You can get all the information on the Atkins 40 Plan and your own personal meal plans at http://www.atkins.com.
Please go follow them on Facebook and Twitter to get all of the latest information.

Pensacola Marathon weekend...

Pensacola Marathon and half was this past Sunday. It is always such an amazing race. This year I went and met up with the BFF Melanie and Tristan to cheer Coach Ali and Steve, Tristan's husband in. Sometimes spectating can be just as rewarding as running the race.
 photo 31fa3809-a4c7-460f-bc9b-67891241869a_zps9887b10e.jpg

Check out the bling, that thing was HUGE! And it was a SPINNER! #boommmmm!

Pensacola Marathon has an early start, 6:30AM. So I headed down to Pensacola EARLY and met up with Melanie and Tristan...

I made it just in time to see Ali and Steve run through miles 2 and 6.

Since they were running the half, we headed back to the finish line area and waited for them to come through. The winner and 2nd place finisher came through at 1:14. Crazy fast...

Ali was not far behind them. He was running a great race. This was his first half marathon since his knee surgery and he came in at 1:24...

I was also excited to to see Rebecca out racing after having her beautiful baby girl just 8 weeks ago. She ran an impressive 1:41. I swear shes superwoman!

Overall the race was great and it couldnt have ended up being a prettier day. Congrats to all the Half and Full runners. The winner of the full marathon came in at 2:33, its a crazy fast time. Come to find out he trains pushing a stroller with his child. I couldnt imagine, but maybe I need to borrow someones small child.:)

I hope you had a great running weekend. Dont forget we have started our running streak. From now until Jan 1st, run atleast 1 mile everyday and tag me 0to26point2 on a picture on instagram using the hashtag #f2fstreaking.

RnRNola 10k Medal Revealed, F2F Run Streak, Football, and a busy Weekend...

WHOA! Its been a crazy week. I have not had a time to sit down and write this week. :( BOO!

So it is almost Thanksgiving, can you believe it? This is the time of the year when stores bypass Thanksgiving and think its Christmas time. I swear Halloween was down and Christmas was up on Nov 1st! AHHHHH!

1st things first in this random weekly roundup post. Rock n Roll New Orleans is just a couple months away. If you are wanting to run it you can sign up HERE. This year they have a added a 10k to the mix. Which is super exciting to me because I have so many friends that wont run a half, so this is an option they can sign up for. Yesterday they revealed the 10k medal and its pretty awesome...
 photo 1c413674-7b51-4708-8afc-d0e8a958ef80_zps7e8ccf92.png

So cute. I have decided to run the 10k this year. I have ran the half, full, and relay the past 3 years and I am excited to bring you a 10k recap this year. I hope you guys will join me in the big easy on Jan 25th for one of the most fun races of the year. Here are a couple codes you can use to sign up...
 photo 20141106_104426_wm_wm_zpsfyuldvgw.jpg

Another fun thing I have started up is the Fat2Fit Run Streak. After sitting down and talking to my Ironman guru coach, he nicely (NOT) told me that I needed to get my butt back out on the street and start running. I have not been running too much since Boston, only because I had the big Ironman swim, so I had all my attention in the water for a couple months. So the #F2Fstreaking was born this week. A couple of my favorite #BLENDS have been streaking forever and getting super fast and speedy, so I thought WTH lets give it a try. So the runstreak started on Tuesday and I am proud to say that in the past three days I have already logged 10 miles, LOL! Thats 10 more miles than I ran in October, :) heehee!
 photo 20141105_074825_wm_wm_zpswuyvjioi.jpg

I would love for you to join me on this little streak. From now until Jan 1st, run atleast 1 mile a day. Its not that hard just find 15 minutes a day to get your run done and then tag me @0to26point2 and #F2Fstreaking in your picture on Instagram. There may be some prizes at the end of all this, who knows.

I posted this little #TuesdayTransformation Pic this week on Instagram and got a huge response.
 photo IMG_20141105_061522_zps1itlz2vz.jpg

THANK YOU GUYS, yall rock! Its very humbling to see how far you have come and also how far you need to go. I have always been happy but now its a little easier to be healthy and happy. You guys keep me motivated to keep going. so again Thank you!

So its time for a little muscle check. I havent been lifting weights to much in the gym. Like I said before I had been focusing on swimming and also cycling, so weight lifting was put on the back burner with running. Starting this week also I am back strength training. My shoulder injury had put a little damper on that for a while but now I am strong enough to lift and loving it...
 photo 53aaf820-13ca-4616-a0e4-f119daf2f451_zps8ee31f28.jpg

This weekend I was supposed to be in Orlando at the WOW Summit. I have been planning this trip with my cohost Cindy for a couple months now. However life sometimes knocks you down and you have to make a decision at the last minute. I hate that I had to back out at the last minute and not go. Thank goodness Cindy is still going and I know she is going to have a blast. Hope fully not hate me for not going :( We both got new cars and of course had to take selfies in front of them.
 photo 20141104_100606_zpsqlbuokqf.jpg

Why did I have to back out? Because of this little football player right here making it to the youth bowl. (Like the Super Bowl of youth football)
 photo a6a0aa7b-07aa-4e58-a131-58374733af51_zpsd2b89009.jpg

To be honest with you when I planned the trip football would have been over for like 3 weeks and it would have been no problem, however this team of 7 year olds had an undefeated season and made it through 2 rounds of playoffs to get themselves to the Youth Bowl. so this Saturday his team the West Mobile Bucaneers 7 yr olds will compete for the big win and then off to a huge tournament on Thanksgiving weekend in Panama City. BUSY!!!
Youth Bowl Bound...
 photo 20141106_202550_zpsdwtfrchs.jpg

On another subject before I close, my daughter got a part in the huge play here at the Saenger Theater. She is going to be in Babes in Toyland. I have been having to make her and her friend Sarahs costume's. They are Mother Goose Villagers. What do you think?
 photo 20141106_130715_zpsoawml5rk.jpg

I hope you guys have a great weekend.

Have you ever Run Streaked?
Are you super busy around this time of year?
Have you ever made a costume?

Halloween Weekend, Senior Bowl 10k, and a Rock n Roll New Orleans Announcement...

How was your Halloween weekend? I had a blast!

We went to an awesome party at our friends Dan and Aprils house. It was a night full of fun, candy, and hayrides!
 photo 2014103195215654_zpsjjdayyvu.jpg

I think the adults had more fun than the kiddos. LOL!
 photo 20141031_200713_zps68cmgt85.jpg

 photo c653fd06-24b8-4293-887f-9949a8bb85f0_zps09eeb84c.jpg

So as you can see above my husband took over our sons Transformer costume that I made. LOL! I had a blast making this costume for Willie to wear for about 10 minutes...

He loved it but I made it while he was at school, so I think I made it a little too big for him so he couldnt hold his candy bag open so he changed costumes with daddy. This is how he looked by the end of the night...
 photo IMG_20141031_223508_zpsfj4qsqyh.jpg

LOL LOVE THAT KID!

Anyways I managed to not get a pic of my oldest child #momfail. Actually he was too busy snagging loads of candy with his friend from all of the neighborhood people. He was wearing one of those full body suits in camo. It was hard to keep up with him. LOL!

My sweet daughter went as a rockstar girl. It was perfect for her. She wouldn't let me take her picture so I snapped this one real quick, lol...
 photo 871a4128-9f9d-4e7c-9467-ddcd5aa6618f_zpsac003bfe.jpg

On Saturday morning I got up super early to go cheer my BFF race wife Melanie, Coach Ali, and our friend Dana at the Senior Bowl 10k in downtown Mobile.
 photo 4927e9bf-3665-4fc7-a308-bf9be8314c85_zps6cd495a5.jpg

It was super cold downtown, I am not sure how these people were running around in shorts and tank tops. CRAZIES!!! Anyways it was awesome watching coach Ali kill the 10k in 36 minutes...
 photo c242f33a-d1e9-426d-9652-536147e1b48f_zps7a0a726b.jpg

He had knee surgery last year and has come back stronger than ever this year. I'm super excited about our Ironman Augusta relay next year. Our team is going to kill it! Stay tuned...

I love seeing running friends at the start of races. I haven't attended a lot of local races lately because of traveling so much, so I have missed all my local peeps. Spotted Pat at the start line...

One last thing I wanted to tell you guys about is the Rock n Roll New Orleans people have released their headliner for the 2015 race on Jan 25th...
"The brothers KONGOS — multi-cultural, multi-faceted, multi-instrumentalists — craft a unique and irresistible sound spawned from shared DNA, diverse influences and spot-on melodic and lyrical sensibilities. On “Lunatic,” their 12-song Epic Records debut, the band’s talent shines on “Come With Me Now”; the title an impossible-to-resist aural summons, the rock-alt crossover tune kicking off with the accordion, jumping into foot-stomping, staccato rhythms, slide guitar, and soaring epic soundscapes reminiscent of U2. “I’m Only Joking,” whose lyrics hint at the album’s title, hits the mark with decisive tribal rhythms and Pink Floyd-esque mysterious modern rock. Thanks to an earlier self-release of “Lunatic,” KONGOS are already stars overseas, playing their numerous hits off “Lunatic” for crowds of up to 65,000 at South African festivals and touring the Republic with Linkin Park, and the UK and Europe with AWOLNATION and Dispatch. With a Feb-March North American tour with Airborne Toxic Event and alternative and rock radio hot on “Come With Me Now” and “I’m Only Joking,” (not to mention “Come With Me Now” in promos for NFL, NBA and ESPN), 2014 is quickly shaping up as the year the U.S. catches KONGOS fever."
