Woman's Half Marathon and 10K Recap

Yesterday I told you guys about the Woman's Half Marathon Expo and Santa Run.
Today the Woman's Half Marathon/10k race recap it is!
Like I told you yesterday the expo was small but nice. And the packet pickup was such a breeze.
And it was a beautiful day.
I also wore my Swiftwick Aspire 12's the night before. They only come in black, white, and a light pink. So, I fixed them up with some cute cut off socks from Target:) HOLLA!
We made it to the start of the race about 6:15. Long enough to get to the bathroom and take a prerace photo.
Heather, me, Stefanie, Shannon, Mindy, and Melanie
Mindy and I also had to meet the other RUNPINK Ambassadors/ Bloggers for a prerace picture. These are some amazing ladies and athletes.
We lined up at the start around 7:10 following the start of the 5k. The way they had the half/10k set up, you had the option of splitting off at mile 2.9 for the 10k or continuing for the half marathon. I have been having a little issue with a little crappy injury called ITBS. Its awful. SOOO going in under trained and not feeling the best, I chose to break off at the 2.9 mile mark and finish at the 10k. I would normally have pushed through and finished the half, however I am trying to be a smarter runner and since I was there to run a race, not race the race, I was OK with this decision.
I was able to hangout drink a Stella with some Swiftwick fans at mile 3. I overheard them on the course talking about their socks and of course I had to snap a pick with them.
They had mapped out a wonderful course through the city of Baton Rouge. Another great perk of this race was they had free Brightroom pictures. They were there snapping pictures all morning. They were set up at the finish and caught this great finishers shot...
The medals at this race are one of my favorite. It was huge and had a separate charm that you can remove and wear on a necklace or bracelet.
After finishing the race I was greeted by Mike, the race director. These guys put on such a class act race. They are also the masterminds behind the Gulf Coast Half Race series. I am soooo looking forward to running those races this coming up year.
What Woman's race would be complete without Pink Portalets? That's right PINK toilets. The fact that I was VIPing meant I had one of my own to use. SCORE!
VIPing is the way to go. Who's VIPing with me next year?
Oh and dancing! There was a little Gangham Style going on. Mindy and I were showing every one how it was done. Don't you want to come runcation with us?

Overall this was an amazing race. It was very well organized and a lot of fun. I will be running this race next year for sure. I hope you will join me.

I was happy to be home and see my kids. They always want to see what mommy brings home from a race. The RUNPINK sunglasses were definitely a hit! I need 2 more pairs so they will stop fighting over them:)
Just a reminder, don't forget to enter my giveaway of 30 pairs of Swiftwick Sustain socks. The most amazing sock you will ever wear.

QOTD: Leave me a comment letting me know what you did this weekend, there may be a little gift for one of you weekenders!
