Rant time...
While at the gym this morning the 2 women on the treadmills in front of me were talking to each other about a girl that apparently they both knew. This is what I caught of the conversation and why it caught my attention...
Women on right: "Can you believe she wants to run a race?"
Women on left: "I know, she must weigh 180lbs"
Right: "if not 190lbs"
Left: "How does she think she is going to be able to run weighing that much?"
Right "I know, she is only like 5'6or7"
Left "(laughing) she will be lucky to run a mile"
Now these 2 women are walking maybe about a 3.5 or 4.0 on the treadmill. And do that everyday. No running involved that I see. Not to say they dont run, I just haven't seen them.
I have been going to this gym at the same time 5 days a week for a long time. So therefore I know most of the people that work there. Some of them follow my blog and one of them just happened to come talk to me while said women were still rambling about this girl that wanted to run a race and weighed 180 or 190lbs. The girl that works at the gym asked me when I leave for my next big race and how my training was going. I totally took this opportunity to add my thoughts in without saying anything to the women on the treadmill. here is how that conversation went...
Gym employee: " When do you leave for your next big race?"
Me: " On the 18th"
Gym employee: " How is your training going?"
Me: "Great, I ran 28 miles in the past 4 days."
Gym employee: " Awesome, how far will you be running in your race?"
ME: " a 5k and 10k on Saturday and a half marathon on Sunday, so 22ish miles in 2 days"
Gym employee "that's crazy."
Me " I know, especially since I weighed myself this morning and I weighed 182lbs"
Now at this point the gym employee is kind of confused but was like ok, lol!
The 2 women turned around so slightly to look at me. Which was hilarious when I made eye contact with both of them, got off the bike I was on behind them, and went to the weights in front of them and started lifting. I don't think the 2 women said another word to each other for the next 10 minutes till they left.
Sweet Victory?
Yes and No!
I dont understand people some time. This is whats wrong with people trying to better themselves physically. Why wouldn't you just cheer your friend on and tell her she was brave and that it was amazing she was going to run a race?
Be nice people!
