So a couple weekends ago Melanie and I took a road trip to "Hotlanta" for the Dirty Girl Mud Run. The Dirty Girl Mud Run is a girls only 5K with muddy obstacles throughout the course. Part of the registration fees are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. I was fortunate enough to be able to run it with the fabulous FitFluential. I wish I would have been able to catch up with more of my fellow ambassadors but there were so many people it just didn't happen:(. Next time though!
So we drove the 5 hours from Mobile to Atlanta on Saturday morning because our start time was not until 3pm. once we got to Lakewood, it was easy to get a parking place because alot of the morning Dirty Girls were gone. I actually was impressed by the parking at the venue because there were people in and out all day and it was easy to park. We got checked in about 1pm, it was a little weird. I don't know if the check in volunteers were just tired or what but they really didn't seem to know what was going on. We had to ask for our t-shirts and our necklaces. But who knows. We decided to start with the 2 o'clock people mainly because that start was fairly empty and off we went...
I was really impressed by the amount of groups of woman who got together and formed teams. We were running with a large group of ladies from a doctors office and they were cheering for each other and very patient with waiting for the slower people to get through the obstacles. It feels really good when you see that kind of togetherness. Some of the obstacles included climbing over hay bales, tire swings, rope wall, wood wall, and of course a couple dirty muddy pits (our favorite). The obstacles were fairly easy for me to get through. I only had one complaint with the course and that was running on the gravel/concrete ground.
Melanie and I def had a blast and I am already planning my next muddy race. Watch out! LOL!
One last thing before I go, the famous donated shoe pile...
My friends were so jealous of this race, we already have a large group of people ready to go next year.:)
A special thanks to Capstone Photography for capturing the crazy moments that all of us had in the mud.
FitFluential LLC compensated me for this campaign. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Haha I wondering what all this was about...
